The Sufficiency of Scripture

In this episode we take a look at the doctrine of the sufficiency of scripture. The question we are tackling... Is scripture enough for you? Many christians claim that it is, but when pressed, would be forced to admit they turn to a number of other sources for spiritual guidance. Tradition, reason, philosophy, experience, feelings, popular preachers/teachers. As useful as those may be, they must all be tested and measured against the infallible, inerrant, God-breathed scripture. The Westminster confession of faith puts it this way:

“The whole counsel of God, concerning all things necessary for his own glory, man’s salvation, faith, and life, is either expressly set down in scripture, or by good and necessary consequence may be deduced from scripture: unto which nothing at any time is to be added, whether by new revelations of the Spirit, or traditions of men.”
